Afternoon Tea Review – Cedar Court

Afternoon Tea at Cedar Court Hotel Harrogate

19th February 2020 – Myself and a friend attended (and of course my daughter)

Afternoon tea for two (and a baby) was a lovely way to spend a miserable afternoon – forgetting about the million and one baby to do tasks!

This Harrogate hotel overlooks the Stray parkland, I believe this is over 200acres of parkland overall. It is a lovely setting for watching the world go by. The hotel dates back to 1671 and sits on the site of the town’s first ever hotel. It has recently been refurbished and it has definitely benefited greatly from this.

Arriving at 1pm, there was no reception only electronic computer stations but we were greeted by bar staff members. The afternoon tea was served in the communal bar area, I must admit at first I didn’t think this was the most appropriate venue. However having spent over 4 hours on the sofa chatting and eating cake it must have been. Alongside the large windows allowing for plenty of day light and views of the gardens maintained by the hotel. There were enough people milling about and having afternoon tea also to make it a nice atmosphere.

The service was faultless and extremely friendly. We didn’t get rushed or bothered at all. The only small criticism, is we could have done with a refill of our tea pots – but we could have asked for this we just didn’t get round to it.

Most importantly there was a lovely selection on offer for us both, delicious hand cut sandwiches, mouth watering selection of home made cakes and freshly baked sultana scones with cream and strawberry jam – complimented by Yorkshire tea. Both deciding to put jam on first and then cream! We made it extra special and added a glass of fizz for an extra £5. I am sure the selection may change from time to time but for us this was a mini chocolate eclair, a mini vanilla slice, mini bakewell tart, mini lemon dessert. All of which although may not have been my ideal choice where freshly baked and delicious.

Be aware the car park costs to park, however the system wouldn’t work for us so we didn’t pay as advised by the staff – just hoping the ANPR system doesn’t catch up with us. This is at a cost of free for up to 2hrs and then £5.00 for up to 18hours. We didn’t quite need that long.

  1. Woah! I’m really loving the template/theme of this site. It’s
simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s very hard to
get that “perfect balance” between superb usability and visual appearance.
I must say you have done a great job with this. In addition, the blog loads very fast for
    me on Firefox. Outstanding Blog!
